The Nitish Kumar government recently ordered the confiscation of properties of corrupt officials

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi said the state government was working to launch a special scheme to reward people who would help trap corrupt officials.

Modi said the government has also made provisions for rewarding public prosecutors and investigation officers for successful handling of cases related to confiscation of property of corrupt people.

A total of 520 corrupt officials were arrested while taking bribes in Bihar in the last five and a half years. "Most of the arrests took place after the state government launched a drive to weed out corruption," officials said.

According to official sources, 1,375 cases of corruption and financial irregularities by officials were pending with the vigilance department. - IANS
